Basics of USTA Junior Team Tennis

·        kids play on teams with other kids their age (8 and Under, 10 and Under, 12 and Under, 14 and Under, and 18 and Under) and skill-level (2.5 and Below, 3.0 and Below, and 3.5 and Above) 

·        flexible local format (Girl’s Singles, Boy’s Singles, Girl’s Doubles, Boy’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles recommended)

 ·        a league needs at least two teams with at least six players (3 girls and 3 boys recommended)

 ·        teams from local leagues can advance to State (in Auburn), Section (in Mobile), and National (in Mobile) Championships

The QuickStart Format

 ·        used with 8 and Under and 10 and Under USTA Junior Team Tennis divisions and sanctioned tournaments

 ·        modified court (36’ x 18’ or 60’ x 21’)

 ·        modified equipment (19”, 21”, 23”, or 25” racquets and low-compression or foam balls)

·        modified scoring system (2-out-of-3 first-to-7-point games or 2-out-of-3 first-to-4-games no-ad sets with a first-to-7-point
tiebreak for the 3rd set)
